One key hormone that often gets overlooked? Testosterone. Yes, women need it too—for energy, metabolism, mood stability, muscle strength, bone health, and (yep) libido. But as testosterone levels drop during perimenopause, you might find yourself struggling with fatigue, brain fog, and a missing sex drive.
I get it—I've been there. My low testosterone levels left me feeling drained, disconnected, and just off. That’s when I discovered bioidentical testosterone therapy, and wow—game-changer. But let’s get real: hormone therapy isn’t a magic fix, and it comes with its ups and downs. So, let’s break it all down.
Testosterone and Perimenopause: Why Women Need It
Testosterone plays a vital role in:

My Journey with Testosterone Therapy Using Biote Pellets
Two and a half years ago, I had my hormones tested. The results? My testosterone was practically nonexistent. No wonder I felt so exhausted, moody, and unmotivated.

I knew testosterone therapy came with potential side effects—acne, oily skin, maybe a little extra body hair—but I wasn’t prepared for hair thinning at my temples.
I panicked. I loved how I felt with higher testosterone, but was I willing to risk losing my hair?
The downside of Biote pellets? Once they’re in, they’re in. There’s no adjusting the dose or stopping midway. So, I had to wait it out.
To counteract the testosterone-induced hair loss, my doctor prescribed Finasteride, a medication that blocks DHT (the hormone linked to androgenic hair loss). Fingers crossed it helps.
But I also wanted more control over my hormone therapy…
Switching to Testosterone Cream: A More Flexible Approach
I decided to transition from testosterone pellets to a compounded testosterone cream. Here’s why:

🔸 Give It Time – Hormone therapy is a journey, not a quick fix. Be patient as your body adjusts.
